How to Replace a Humidifier Filter

The filter is for an amendment if it is visible accumulation of dust and pollutants ready. If there is nothing to see, the filter should be changed at least once a year free from invisible mold spores or bacteria that may lurk in the filter. The frequency of change depends on how much the device is used.

As with any electrical device, disconnect the unit from the beginning. Then remove the water tank and empty it if necessary. Fill it with cold water and add aTablespoons of bleach solution to disinfect any mold or bacteria that may be built up in the sitting water. Let you know that for about 20 minutes to sit.

Then proceed to remove the motor housing. It is the piece that covers the top of the humidifier. This is the opportunity to vacuum or wipe dust or dirt that might, on the humidifier. Do not take the device further apart than these, because that would void the manufacturer warranty.

Now lift the filter from the device. Some models have filters that are cleaned and reused. Because most replacement filters are economically, it's usually a good idea, just a new filter, as it is the cleanest way to go. If you do not wash and reuse the filter to be sure not to press or wring it dry to avoid tearing the filter.

Putting the device back together is pretty straightforward. Everything goes back the way it opened. The base of the unit can be cleaned with a cup of white vinegar. Let it sit forapproximately 20 minutes, then use the bleach and water mixture from the water to be disinfected. Then rinse off all the cleaning chemicals.
